Regular programs and refresher courses
Regular first aid classes are held throughout the week, even on evenings and weekends. Renewal or recertification is available twice a week. The classes are 18 hours long, while refresher programs are 8 hours long, inclusive of CPR recertification. First aid programs teach students how to manage different injuries and emergency situations. Skills such as chest compressions, bandaging, and bleeding management are the most popular among trainees.
While the full program includes CPR training, CPR-only classes are also available. There are three levels a student can choose from A, C, and HCP. All programs and CPR-only classes teach students how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) used during CPR.
Training Fees
Ottawa First Aid has very affordable classes or training fees. Expenses are paid in full during enrolment and include tuition (plus taxes), certification, St Mark James registration fees, and use of training manuals and equipment. Reimbursement of the complete fees is given to students who drop out but are able to give a 72-hour notice beforehand.
Certificates
Students who complete a class or program are given a wallet-sized certificate from St Mark James. Wall-mount-sized certificates can be requested, however. All certificates are only valid for three years. Recertification for expiring (must be current) certificates are available at Ottawa First Aid, including CPR C recertification.
Private Programs
Private instructors have different rates and schedules so inquire about them before booking a class. Companies who want to hire an instructor for an event can trust Ottawa First Aid. Rates are affordable and schedules are very flexible.
